Donald M. Hinke, 81, of 601 Sunset Lane, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born July 20, 1928, in Stanley, WI, the son of Henry B. and Nellie G. Dressel Hinke. He graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School where he was an All Conference Quarterback. On July 13, 1953, he married Keryl Jean Huls at St. Anne's Church in Stanley. Don was a member of Holy Family Parish. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the post-WW II Occupational Forces in Europe from 1950 to 1952, and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the L.P. Goodrich Booster Club and the Fond du Lac Home Builders Association. A homebuilder all his life, Don started in Stanley, moved to projects in Louisville, KY, Port Washington, WI, Little Rock, AR, Toledo, OH, and became Vice President of Operations for Sterling Custom Homes in Fond du Lac from 1966 to 1982, retiring in 2002. He built his family cottage in 1972, which was the central gathering place for his entire family. He enjoyed his family and celebrated life every day. Don was an 18-year Cancer survivor and was very active in the Relay for Life. He loved building, fixing, and working on various projects around his home.Surviving is his wife, Keryl Jean, three sons, Craig (Diane) Hinke of Fond du Lac, Brad (Jackie) Hinke of Pleasanton, CA, and Scott (Lisa) Hinke of Waukesha, WI, two daughters, Renee (Mike) Hanlon of Fond du Lac, and Kerri (Steve) Ulry of Green Bay, WI, grandchildren, Tara (Michael), Megan, and Kyle, Nathan, Pete (fiancé Amanda) and Leah, Jordan and Zachary, Eric and Alyssa, great-grandchildren, Jackson, Madelynn, and Braxton. He is further survived by a brother, Dr. Marvin (Helen) Hinke of Madison, two sisters, Phyllis (Rev. Stanford) Strosahl of Sun Prairie, and Ella (Paul) Guthrie of Brillon, WI. Also surviving is a brother-in-law, Tom (Phyllis) Huls of Allen Park, MI, and three sisters-in-law, Peggy Kot of Savage, MN, Janie (Len) Bertagnolli of Parker, CO, and Diane (Rich) Kukac of Orland Park, IL, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends, He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Ryan Hinke, two brothers, Dayton and Warren Hinke, and four sisters-in-law, Ruth Hinke, Donna Hinke, Mary Hinke, and Marcella Hinke.



Visitation for Donald M. Hinke will be on Friday, June 18, 2010, from 3 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word for Christian Burial services will be at 7 PM at the funeral home on Friday. Graveside services will be on Saturday morning at 10:30 AM at St. Charles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Donald's name.
