James A. Peterson, 79, of Eden, died Saturday, November 12, 2022 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1943 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, the son of Arthur and Elizabeth (Williams) Peterson. On October 30, 1965 he married Darlene J. Nally at Oakfield United Methodist Church.
Jim worked as a diesel mechanic for Oakfield Stone Company until his retirement. After retirement he repaired and sold lawn mowers and raised a 2 acre garden. He enjoyed camping and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; four children, James (Joanne) Peterson, Jeffrey (Wendy) Peterson, Michael (Gail) Peterson, and Deborah (Nyle) Wellso; eleven grandchildren, Justin (Courtney Pattee) Peterson, Kimberly (Rob) Murach, Stephen Peterson, Miranda (Cody Schrauth) Galligan, Christopher (Samantha Spanbauer) Peterson, Savannah (Kaylan Reible) Galligan, Jacob Peterson, Calvin Peterson, Jonathon Peterson, Nyall and Allyson Wellso; four great grandchildren, Christian, Liam, and Sofia Murach and Emersyn Peterson; two sisters, Sally (Matt) Meyer and Susan (Joel) Schneiter; his dog, Buddy; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Steven Peterson; and grandson, Wyatt Galligan; his two dogs, Jack and Puppy.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rienzi Cemetery.
