Janet M. (Bott) Murphy

Janet M. Bott Murphy, 84, of Fond du Lac, joined her husband of 59 years, parents, and many extended family members and friends on January 4, 2023 due to a brief illness complicated by septic shock when she died in the ICU at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Janet was born October 25, 1938 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI to Harold R. Bott and Marie L. (Schultz) Bott.

Janet experienced a wonderful elementary education at Lakeshore School in the Town of Friendship, and graduated from Fond du Lac Goodrich High School, class of 1956. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary to the president of Giddings and Lewis, and later worked as a secretary at Arizona State University and Crystal Lake South High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, Lyle Murphy, and spent 16 years in Ripon, WI where they raised two active sons. She participated in bowling leagues, volunteering, and her church. Later they moved to Crystal Lake, IL, Muskegon, MI, York, PA, and back to her childhood home in Fond du Lac.

Janet is survived by her incredible legacy of loved ones who are her two sons, Stephen (Julie) and Robert (Kerri), grandchildren Ryan (Lauren) Murphy, Meghan (Brian) O’Connor, Marissa (Michael) Sun, Keston (Lucas) Heinen, great grandchildren Annelise Heinen, Lena Sun, Maggie Murphy, and Fiona O’Connor, her brother Richard (Marcia) Bott, and brothers in law John (Anna) and Jim (Judy) Murphy and sister in law Mary Murphy and a vast amount of close friends and relatives.

Janet was gifted in music, playing the accordion and piano by ear. She loved knitting, counted cross stitch, gardening, playing cards, and her lake views. Janet had an eye for decorating, especially with flowers. She was an adventurous family travel organizer all her life, visiting 48 of the 50 states and Canada. Being a sports enthusiast, she rarely missed Packers, Brewers, Bucks, or Badgers games.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A time of remembrance will occur at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will occur at Ledgeview Memorial Park on Monday, January 23, 2023.
