Aaron ThomasAaron Thomas, 78, formerly of Fond du Lac, and currently a resident of Wascott, WI, died at home on Wednesday, August 02, 2006. He was born August 2, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the son of Arthur and Rose Chartrey Thomas. On October 25, 1952, he married Dorothy Moore in Duluth, MN. Mr. Thomas attended Fond du Lac High School and served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1954, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He retired in 1991, after 30 years of combined service with the Soo Line and DM & IR (Duluth Mesabi & Iron Range) railroads. In addition, he concurrently was employed at Hallet Dock in Duluth for over 20 years. Aaron was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church in Solon Springs, WI, VFW Posts in Port Richey, FL and Duluth, MN, American Legion Post #0071 in Duluth, MN, and Knights of Columbus Council #7106 of Superior. Aaron was an avid golfer. He enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, and the winters in Port Richey, FL. He loved spending time with family and friends. When he wasn't telling stories, he was talking about the weather or his beloved Green Bay Packers. Surviving is his wife, Dorothy, four sons, Dan (Chris) Thomas of Wausau, David (Sharon) Thomas of Superior, MSgt Dean Thomas USAF of Goldsboro, NC, and SPC Darrin (Brenda) Thomas ARNG of Minneapolis, a daughter, Debbie (Scott) Toland of Las Vegas, and ten grandchildren, Amii (Tim) Kreft, Jeff Ditman, Shawna Thomas, Ryan Ditman, Kelli, Kacie, Cory, Karlie, Alexa, and Dale Aaron Thomas. He is further survived by two brothers, Charles (Irene) Thomas, Jerry (Laura) Thomas, and a sister, Alvina Herman, all of Fond du Lac. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. His parents, a brother, Ward, and two sisters, Athalene "Tommy" Leidolf and Naomi Grisa preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Aaron Thomas will be on Friday, August 4, 2006, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 9:30 am from the funeral home and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Dennis Budka of Holy Family Parish will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
