Adina Elenora King passed away January 28, 2017. She was born July 6, 1918 in Fond du Lac to Herman F. and Caroline A. (Thurke) Bahr. She married John F. King on October 21, 1944, three weeks after he returned from the South Pacific during WWII. She worked at Infant Socks and St. Agnes Hospital taking care of newborn babies. Adina also cared for her grandchildren and others, a job she loved well into her retirement years. Adina was a member of the Church of Our Savior Lutheran Church and participated in the church quilting program by cutting “squares” until last fall. She enjoyed doing Word Search, playing Bingo and Yahtzee, sewing, baking Christmas cookies, going to Mick and Tom’s cabin in the fall and motorcycles rides – her last being on her 98th birthday.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn King of Lewiston, NY, Jerry (Jackie) King of Fond du Lac, CW4 (Ret) Wayne King and significant other Maureen Betz of Fond du Lac, Mickey (Tom) Davies of Greenleaf; four grandchildren, Tammy (Scott) Giese of Cecil, Brian (Amy) King of Fond du Lac, Jessica (Joe) Michels of Fond du Lac, and SFC Ryan King of Ft Carson, CO; eight great-grandchildren, Bradey, Olivia and Kash Giese, Alyssa and Reese King, Hayley and Bayley Pitts and Liam Michels. She is further survived by a brother, Howard Bahr of Fond du Lac; a half-sister, Betty Jane (Winters) Bickford of St. Petersburg, FL; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her stepfather, Edwin Winters; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and Eugene Wein and Dorothy and Robert Klosterman; a half-brother, Robert Winters; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Bahr; and her godson, Larry Klosterman. Additionally, she was preceded in death by John’s parents, Emmett and Mary King, Sr.; John’s brothers and sisters and their spouses, Rosie and Reuben Fink, Jane Hollander-Radick, Ken and Irene King, Robert and Jeanne King, and Emmett Jr. and Maureen King.
The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Agee officiating. Burial will follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to Agnesian Hospice in Adina’s name.
