Agnes M. Schlaefer, 92, a resident of Grancare Nursing Center, died Wednesday, April 19, 2012, at the Hospice Home of Hope. She was born June 16, 1919, in Wausau, WI, the daughter of Francis J. and Alma M. Husting Schlaefer, and had been a resident of the Fond du Lac area since 1939. Agnes was a graduate of Lomira High School and later attended the Fond du Lac Business College. She was employed by the late Dr. Leonard Keenan as a receptionist for 35 years. During WW II, she was a volunteer nurses aide for the American Red Cross. She was a former member of Sigma. She was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan. Agnes belonged to Holy Family parish. Surviving is a brother, Joseph (Florence) Schlaefer of Chilton, a brother-in-law, Robert Schueler of Winneconne, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Helen (Al) Zeleske and Rita Schueler.
Visitation for Miss Agnes M. Schlaefer will be on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, from 10 to 11 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial services will be at 11 AM at the church on Tuesday. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment of cremated remains will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
