Another angel arrived in Heaven on May 2, 2013, by the name of Aileen Jane (Halle) Giencke Browitt, who passed away at the St. Francis Home with her daughter at her side, where she had been a resident for over four years. She lived on Earth for 95 years. Aileen was born on December 2, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Emma Baumann Halle. She graduated from Fond du Lac High School. She married Norman Giencke in 1940, and later married George Browitt in 1958. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1979. Aileen was a hairdresser for over 50 years and owned and operated Marilyn's Beauty Salon in Milwaukee for most of those years. She raised four daughters and was stepmother to two more girls. Aileen was a hardworking woman with a sweet smile, soft voice, and endearing heart. Everyone she met loved her. She was a member of Faith White Shrine and American Legion Post #180 Auxiliary and the Eastern Star. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Church of Peace United Church of Christ in Fond du Lac, and also was a member of Christ Church in Milwaukee for many years. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Pat (Jerry) Straetz, Judy (Art) Rozek, Norlene Herrenbruck, Linda Giencke, and Joan Welch, her brother, Elmer Halle, grandchildren, Tom, Wendi, Todd, Wil, Lisa, Scott, Bobbi, Bonnie, Jennifer, Kathy, and Gil Jr. She is further survived by many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and siblings Elsie Mahlberg, Meta Wohlschlegel, Clarence Halle, and Norma Adams; sons-in-law Ray Schmidt and Bob Herrenbruck, and step-daughter, Dorothy Kuchta.
Visitation for Aileen Jane (Halle) Giencke Browitt will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 3 to 5 PM at Church of Peace United Church of Christ, 158 S. Military Road, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 5 PM on Wednesday at the church. Revs. Jennifer C.M. Dawson and James F.D. Martin will officiate. On Thursday, May 9, 2013, funeral services will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 10700 Capitol Drive, Wauwatosa. Rev. Dale Stohre, pastor of Christ Church United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in Aileen's name.
