Alice M. Mowery Hensen. 92, formerly of 402 Maple Avenue, died at the St. Francis Home on Thursday, August 7, 2008, where she currently resided. She was born October 24, 1915, in St. Cloud, the daughter of Frank and Mary Burg Hochrein. On December 14, 1936, she married George Mowery and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1974. She later married George Hensen on June 27, 1975. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1996. Alice was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Altar and Rosary Society. She and her first husband owned and operated The Brown Jug in Mt. Calvary which they purchased in 1955. Alice enjoyed her children and grandchildren, playing sheepshead, entertaining, dancing, and traveling. She was involved in food service most of her adult life when she worked at the UW-Fond du Lac Campus, the Lions Café, and Hardin's Catering.Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Special Friend Chuck Balnis) Bothe, Mexico and Diane (James) Hausinger of Wabeno, WI; three sons, Frank (Dawn) Mowery of Sturgeon Bay, William (Patsy) Mowery of Stevens Point, and Donald "Lefty" (Judi) Mowery of Fond du Lac, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A stepdaughter, Suzy Ziegler of Van Dyne, further survives her. Her parents, both husbands, a grandson, John Patrick Mowery, and a son-in-law, Ronald Bothe preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Alice M. Mowery Hensen will be on Sunday, August 10, 2008, from 4 to 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Monday from 9 to 9:45 at St. Francis Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:45 am on Monday at the chapel. The Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
