Alida J. Sivil

Alida J. Sivil, age 86, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born on May 6, 1936, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Waldemar and Rose (Barthuly) Schoener. On February 18, 1956, she married Leon Sivil at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2012. Alida was an LPN at St. Agnes Hospital. She absolutely loved her job and never considered it work. Alida was nurse of the year in 2006 and enjoyed her job so much that she stayed working until she was 75 years old.

Alida was a former member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church where she was part of the original “Funeral Four”. Alida sang in the Fond du Lac Oratorio Chorus and was very involved with Fond du Lac Community Theatre. She was always so much fun and a little eccentric. She had an avid button collection and also loved collecting seashells and giving talks about them. Alida and Leon enjoyed traveling for many years with their good friends and neighbors, Al and Dorothy Lemery.

Survivors include one daughter, Jami; three grandchildren, Johnny Lee (Katie) Manning, Shane (Aleshia) Manning, and Heather Guerra; two great-grandchildren, Elliott Manning and Daxton Guerra. Alida had a special bond with all of her nieces and nephews, especially Linda Marcoe and her husband Bill; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one daughter, Terry.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 6:00 PM. Cremation will follow the service. Interment will take place in spring at Estabrooks Cemetery.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Louann Biddick. There are no words adequate to thank you for going above and beyond in the care, compassion, and time you provided for Alida. Special thanks to the SSM Hospice staff, especially Jodi, Marissa, and Denise for everything you have done for Alida.
