Ann Crawford Wick passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI after suffering a stroke. She was 61.
She was born on May 14, 1953 to Betty and Donald Crawford in Fond du Lac, WI, and graduated from Lowell P. Goodrich High School in 1971. She received a bachelor’s degree in interior design from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1975. She married Douglas Wick in 1978 and had a son, Daniel, in 1982. She and Douglas divorced in 1984.
She started her career at the Action Advertiser newspaper in 1984 and worked most recently for Action Reporter Media. Throughout her career, her work was frequently recognized, winning statewide and national awards for creativity in design and customer service. She was also actively involved in community volunteer work throughout her life, filling key roles with Soroptimist International of Fond du Lac and the Fond du Lac Concert Association.
While Ann will undoubtedly be remembered for her many personal and professional achievements, she will be remembered most for her enormous heart. She was an incredibly giving person, rising to the challenge of being a single mom to her beloved son, while also being a gracious daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to so many others. She was also an extremely doting “Granna” who delighted in her two granddaughters.
She is survived by her son Daniel, daughter-in-law Kim, and granddaughters Sophia and Aurelia of Alexandria, VA, and also by her father Donald and sister Mary of Fond du Lac, WI. A service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Fond du Lac at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2015 followed by a celebration of Ann’s life and reception hosted by the family at the Thelma Arts Center from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and share stories in her memory.
She will be laid to rest at Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Memorial donations in Ann’s name may be made to the Fond du Lac Concert Association.
