Anna C. “Ann” Kohn, 103, a former and longtime resident of North Fond du Lac, WI, passed away peacefully at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh, WI on Tues., Feb. 16, 2016. She was born Jan. 3, 1913 on the family farm in the town of Ashippun, Dodge Co., WI to Thomas E. Hanrahan and Mary Agnes (Kelly) Hanrahan. She had four sisters; Mary (Mamie), Genevieve, Lucy, and Agnes; and four brothers, William, Leo, Raymond and Raphael “Ralph”, who all preceded her in death.
Ann graduated from the St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac, WI in 1934 with a three year Nursing Diploma. It was while working at St. Agnes that Ann met her future husband. Ann married Norman Nicholas Kohn on Jun. 13, 1936 at Holy Hill National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians in a double ceremony which included Ann’s younger sister, Agnes. Employed by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad, Norman, along with Ann, resided in North Fond du Lac for 74 years where their seven children were born and raised. She was an active member of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
Ann was preceded in death by Norman N. Kohn, her beloved husband; daughter, Arlene F. (Susie) Linsley; her parents; and her siblings. She is survived by her three sons; Noel (Ginger) Sun City Center, FL, Norm (Pat) Rio Verde, AZ and Terry (Barb) Wheaton, IL; three daughters, Carol Hillberry (Ben) Sun City Center, FL, Mary Schroeder (Jack) and Melissa, both of Oshkosh; son-in-law, Richard Linsley, Sun City Center, FL; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Fri., Feb. 26, 2016 at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 706 Minnesota Ave. in North Fond du Lac with Fr. Joseph Dominic officiating. Visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. Following the services, burial will take place in St. Charles Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ann’s memory may be made to Catholic Charities.
She was much loved and will be remembered always. Ann’s family extends their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care given by the staff and caregivers at Carmel, Gabriel’s Villa and Eden Meadows in Oshkosh.
