Anna H. Schneider

March 11, 1920 — June 10, 2008

Anna 'Ann' H. Schneider, formerly of 389 N, Main St., Fond du Lac, WI passed away peacefully at Hospice Home of Hope on June 10, 2008, with her daughters at her side. Born in New Holstein, WI on March 11, 1920, Ann was a 1938 graduate of Stockbridge High School. She worked for Hemauer's General Store in Stockbridge where she met candy man Ray J. Schneider. They were married on August 19, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Stockbridge and moved to Fond du Lac. Together they founded Ray J. Schneider Candy Company, which they tirelessly operated together for over 30 years until Ray passed away on December 14, 1981. Ann also touched many lives through her involvement with St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alter & Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary FdL, and NAIM Widow & Widowers Group.Mitts on hand and oven always warm, Ann devoted herself to her family, friends, and many relatives, who will never forget the smell of her special cakes, pies, and cookies on holidays, special occasions, and oftentimes no occasion at all. She leaves many treasured memories in the hearts of her grandchildren of choo-choo train rides at the park, countless storybooks, and an ever-welcoming lap.Ann is survived by two daughters: Karen Vehrs and husband Van of Appleton, and Luann Wrzesinske and husband Joseph of Fond du Lac; three beloved grandchildren: Karla Vehrs and husband Michael Staab of Minneapolis, Hillary Vehrs and partner Peter Johnson of New Glarus, and Joseph 'Joey' Wrzesinske of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law Edwin DeKarske of Waukesha, and sister-in-law Catherine Schneider of Fond du Lac. Additional survivors include nephews Daniel DeKarske and wife Kristine of Waukesha, and Harold DeKarske of Oshkosh, niece Gayle Zwieg and husband Russell of West Bend and their families, dear friend Anna Rose Riederer of Fond du Lac, and all the Schneider nieces and nephews, and their families who meant so much to her. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Francis & Mary Ott Kraemer, her husband, infant daughter Mary-Katherine, sisters Alice Steindorf and Gertrude DeKarske, brother-in-laws Harold Schneider, and Harlan Steindorf and special friends Carl & Mildred Beckman.



Visitation will be on Saturday, June 14, 2008, from 11 to 2:30 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of The Word for Christian Burial services will be at 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Ann's name.A special Thank You to the staff, nurses and caregivers at Hospice Home of Hope and Dr. Sergi for the wonderful care given to our mother.
