ROBERT A. and ANNABELLE D. MENGE WEGELE SR.Annabelle D. Menge Wegele, age 85, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home. Robert A. Wegele Sr, age 82, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home. They resided at W6137 Subway Rd, Fond du Lac. Annabelle was born on December 31, 1919 in Fond du Lac the daughter of William E. and Jessie Johnstone Menge. Robert was born on May 18, 1922 in Union, IA the son of Edward H. and Ada Spencer Wegele. On June 8, 1946 they were married in Los Angeles, CA. They both served in the United States Navy during World War II, Robert was aboard the USS Ellet as a Gunner's Mate First Class, and Annabelle as a Chief, storekeeper (disbursing). Annabelle worked for Wisconsin Bell, the US Postal Service, Giddings and Lewis, and the State of Wisconsin-U.W. Fond du Lac retiring in 1991.She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lady Elks, life member of the American Legion, member of AMVETS, past member of Wisconsin League of Women Voters, member of D.A.R., and a member of the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Robert was a millennium member of the National Rifle Association, member of Masonic Lodge 26, member of the Fraternal Order of Elks, life member of the American Legion, past member of Fond du Lac Rifle and Pistol Club, member of AMVETS, and a member of Izaak Walton League of America. SURVIVORS: one son, Annabelle has one sister in law, and they both have many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and his wife.
Committal services will be held on Saturday May 21, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. at Rienzi Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
