Anthony “Fritzie” Bertram, 78, of Oshkosh, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Kissimmee, Florida. He was born April 21, 1938 in Fond du Lac, the son of Math and Selma (Schmitz) Bertram. On July 8, 1972 he married Barbara A. Schmitz at St. John the Baptist in Johnsburg. Anthony owned and operated a dairy farm in the Malone area and retired from farming in 2009. Farming was his life; following retirement he enjoyed gardening, bird watching, watching the Packers and Brewers, playing Sheepshead and dominoes, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Oshkosh; four children, Mary Bertram of Menasha, Michael (Abigail) Bertram of Oshkosh, Matthew (Nerissa) Bertram of North Fond du Lac, and Melissa Bertram of Oshkosh; six grandchildren, Lukas, Kensingtyn, Maddisyn, Ellea, Samuel, and Olivia; one sister, Bernice (Gerald) Schmitz of St. Peter; one sister-in-law, Carol (John) Cook of Menasha; one brother-in-law, Francis (Linda) Schmitz of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dolores (Vernon) Schmitz.
The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. John the Baptist in Johnsburg with Revs. Mike Bertram and Gary Wagner concelebrating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Mariam A. Esat who took care of Fritzie above and beyond the call of duty.
