Arthur H. KaemmerArthur H. Kaemmer, 88, formerly of N5289 Club DeNeveu Drive, died peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at St. Francis Nursing Home. He was born June 26, 1919, in Kiel, WI, the son of Arthur L. and Hermine Griebenow Kaemmer. On June 20, 1942, he married Jean Taylor West at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2006. Mr. Kaemmer was a graduate of Kiel Public School, and Lawrence University. He later received his MBA from Harvard Business School. Art enlisted in the US Navy during WW II and served as an ensign on the McNair Destroyer #679 in the South Pacific. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1946 as a Lieutenant Jr. Grade. He also served as a member of the US Naval Reserve. Art joined Galloway-West Company in 1946, and after serving in several capacities he became President and Board Chairman and retired in 1984. He was the former Director and past President of the American Dry Milk Association, past President of the Fond du Lac United Way and the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Club, where he received Rotary's Paul Harris Award, past President of the Board of Trustees of Rienzi Cemetery, a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, where he served on its Chapter Board for many years, a Lifetime Member of Elks Lodge #57, a former board member of the Board of Trustees of Lawrence University, a board member of the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band Advisory Council, and a member of Big Brothers. Art was an Eagle Scout and was a member of the HF & D Club. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Arthur W. (Martha) Kaemmer of St. Paul, MN, and Craig Kaemmer (Mary Yeargan) of Brandon, FL, two daughters, Loxley (Bob) Koshnick of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Claire (Rob) Hutter of Fond du Lac; 10 grandchldren, Fred (Kate Tilney) Kaemmer, Julia (Eric) Hynnek, Becky Koshnick, Nick Koshnick, Jack Kaemmer, Katie Kaemmer, Kathryn Hutter, Marie Hutter, Meg Hutter, and Lizzi Hutter, and four great-grandchildren, Luca Hynnek, Zora Hynnek, Gracie Tilney-Kaemmer, and Lela Tilney-Kaemmer. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Julia (Joseph) Radomski of Scarborough, ME, and nieces, Susan (John Boomer) Radomski, and Cathy (Bill) Dodds, and nephews Steve (Dianne) Radomski, Tom (Paige) Radomski, Duke Fagan, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters-in-law, Marge Fagan and Elizabeth Rose West, two brothers-in-law, Tom Fagan and Joseph Radomski, a niece, Margaret Ann Vincent, and a grandson-in-law, Tom Virnig.
Visitation for Mr. Arthur H. Kaemmer will be on Friday, February 22, 2008, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday, February 23rd at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 51 W. Division Street. The Rev. Peter Bird will officiate and entombment will be in the Memorial Home Mausoleum, Rienzi Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Art and Jean Kaemmer Fund c/o of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation, Lawrence University, the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, or St. Francis Home Foundation.
