Arthur L. Schramm, age 87, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at St. Francis Nursing Home where he has resided since 2013. He was born on April 13, 1929 in Fond du Lac, the son of Louis and Edwina (Yankow) Schramm. Arthur graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1947. On June 17, 1950, he married Beverly A. Dyckhoff at St. Joseph’s Church. They then moved to Winnebago Drive and resided there for sixty-four years. Arthur worked for Service Motors for two years, Ford Tractor for sixteen years, and retired from Mercury Marine in 1989 after twenty-four years.
Arthur was active for many years in dart ball, bowling, fishing, and hunting, loved to garden, MNNB, Galloway House, Knights of Columbus, Loaves and Fishes, Tuesday morning golf, and he was an active member of Holy Family Parish and ushered at St. Mary’s Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Jerry) Kuhnz and his son, Kenneth (Mary) Schramm; six grandchildren, Jason (Anne) Kuhnz, Heidi (Bill) Bywater, Marisa Schramm, Brittany Schramm, Josh (Melanie) Reed, and Kendel Reed; five great-grandchildren, Megan and Andrew and Emma Bywater, Arthur Schramm, and Harper Reed; one brother, Robert (Lynn) Schramm; two nieces, special friend, Mary Meixensperger; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Beverly of fifty-eight years; his brother, Louis Schramm; and one grandson, Andrew Kuhnz.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 8, 2016, from 5-7 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, September 9, 2016, at 9:30 A.M. at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett St, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935, with the Reverend Charles Schramm officiating. Visitation will also be held on Friday at the St. Francis Home Chapel from 8:30 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Prostate Cancer Foundation (survivor for twenty-two years) or to Holy Family Parish, or the St. Francis Home Employee Appreciation Fund.
