Audrey Lorraine Stahmann, 83, a resident of Tower View Villa in Rosendale, joined her husband, Elvin and the Lord in Heaven on Friday, May 01, 2015. She put up a great fight all week with loving support from her three sons and daughter after being admitted to St. Agnes Hospital for pneumonia and heart complications.
She was one of two daughters born to John and Francis Reynolds on June 21, 1931, in Rosendale. When she was young, she enjoyed riding bike with friends, sitting on the lawn, and drinking lemonade. Later, her family moved to a farm on Palmer Road in Rogersville where she met the love of her life during high school. Audrey and Elvin married on June 9, 1951, at St. Stephen’s Church in Rogersville where they remained faithful members until their deaths.
After being united, Audrey worked for Infant Socks in Fond du Lac while living on the Walson farm near the Fond du Lac Airport. There they began to start their family with their son, Dennis. After a few years, they rented a house for a short time prior to buying the Barfnett Farm on Highway 23 where they raised two more sons and a daughter, who was born later in their married life. A few years after her husband passed away in 2004, Audrey moved to a smaller home in Rosendale before living her final years at Tower View Villa Assisted Living.
Other jobs Audrey held while raising her family included working on the family farm, filing catalog orders at Miles Kimball in Oshkosh. She also worked as store clerk and cashier for Bluemke’s, G & D Dairy in Rosendale, and Kmart in Fond du Lac until she retired. In her younger years, Audrey was very active in her church, serving on various church committees as well as teaching and supervising Sunday School. Most notably, she always had a smile on her face while serving others.
Audrey’s favorite hobbies and pastimes included spending time with her family, listening and singing music, canning, cooking, bowling, cleaning (but not dusting), bingo, playing solitaire, tickling her grandchildren’s toes with “This Little Piggy,” doing word searches, and her all-time favorite, playing Sheepshead.
Survivors include her three sons, Dennis Stahmann of Eldorado, Scott Stahmann, Rosendale, John Stahmann, Rosendale, and Tammy (Chad) Vande Berg, Rosendale; seven treasured grandchildren: Steve, Stan and Scott Jr. Stahmann, Michael Stahmann, Cassidy, Cayley, and Callista Vande Berg; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Stahmann and Vaeda Stahmann; one beloved sister who she lived with the past year, Rosalie Patt of Rosendale; sister-n-law Judy (Melvyn) Mikkola of Hancock, Michigan; many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elvin, and several special in-laws.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 (her husband’s birthday) from 1:00 PM-4:00 PM at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Rogersville. Funeral service and burial in Rosendale Cemetery will immediately follow the visitation with Rev. Kimberly Stowell officiating.
Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.
Special thanks to the Tower View family, St. Agnes Staff (esp. Teri, Donna, and Joy), Paul Dercks and many friends.
