Audrey Mae (Gilmore) Rumbuc, 87, of Fond du Lac, died on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Harbor Haven Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 7, 1928 in Oshkosh. On October 8, 1949 she married Alex C. Rumbuc at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2013. Audrey worked for California Canners and Growers, Miles Kimball and Oshkosh Suitcase Factory. She was a member of Sons of Zebedee, St. James Church in Oakfield. Audrey’s faith was very important to her. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, making doll clothes, playing sheepshead, jig saw and crossword puzzles, painting woodworking projects Alex built, square dancing and polkas, watched the Game Show Network, and was an avid Brewer fan. Audrey had a special bond with her nephew, Tom Eaton and he remembers all of the talks and phone calls they had and she was very happy for him to listen to her and come see her. She had a caring soul who always put others first and would never ask anyone for anything. Audrey was devoted to her family and she showed it while taking care of her husband and mother-in-law, Magdelena until she died February 29, 1990.
She is survived by her six children, Joseph Rumbuc of Fond du Lac, Jeffrey Rumbuc of Fond du Lac, Kathleen (Jim) Geelan of Fond du Lac, Karen (Joe) Koenen of Oakfield, Charles Rumbuc of Phoenix, AZ, and Christine (Mark “Bert”) Burleton of Oakfield; 16 grandchildren, Josh (Jenni) Rumbuc, Nick Rumbuc, Holli (Tony) Rilling, Shawn (Becky) Geelan, Brian (fiancée, Yumi) Geelan, Stephen (Christine) Geelan, Sarah (Roger) Laubenstein, Ben Koenen, Bobby Koenen, Allison Rumbuc, Samantha Rumbuc, Derek Witt, Kerri (Joey) Cox, Lindsey Burleton; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alex; granddaughter, Margaret Beth Geelan; grandson, Patrick Geelan; sister, Etta Fae.
The visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Sons of Zebedee, St. James Catholic Church in Oakfield with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
