Bernadette K. Blatz

Bernadette K. Blatz, 95, of Dotyville went home to be with her husband, Sunday morning March 13, 2016. Bernadette was born on January 15, 1921 in Dotyville (Town of Forest) the daughter of Anton and Odella (Engel) Goebel. On October 23, 1943 she married Jerry Blatz at St. Michael’s Church in Dotyville. He preceded her in death January 8, 2008.

She farmed along with her husband on the Blatz farmstead on County Road T, just outside of Dotyville. Bernadette lived the last six months in Serenity Circle, previous year at St. Francis Terrace, and for the five years before that at St. Clare Terrace all in the St. Francis Nursing Home Facility in Fond du Lac. She was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s parish, now Shepherd of the Hills, belonging to the Christian Women’s Society. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxillary of Fond du Lac.

She enjoyed family, gardening, fishing, playing cards and quilting.



Bernadette is survived by her nine children; Gerald “Skook” (Kathy) Blatz, Carol (David) Thome, Joan (Don Schmidt) Rait, Pat (Fritz) Goebel, Janet (special friend,Tom Baker) Smith, Kenneth (Joanne) Blatz, Donald (Carolyn) Blatz, Richard (special friend, Renee Thelen) Blatz, and Jackie (Jeff) Lindsley. All of her children live within 15 miles of the family home.

She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; Brian Blatz, Tanya Goebel, Patrick and Paul Thome, Sara Gonsalves, Sherri Bucher, Ronald and Scott Goebel, Angela Benike, Michael and Joseph Abhold, Renee Pionke, Rebecca, Kevin, Ted and Greg Blatz, Jon, Holly and Jacob Blatz, Joshua, Kayce and Jason Blatz, Brooke Lindsley; and 31 great grandchildren.

Bernadette is further survived by two brothers; Tony (Joyce) Goebel of Eden, and James (Mary Ann) Goebel of Fond du Lac; two sisters, Alice Braatz of Eden and Kathleen “Pat” Dietzen of Lake Zurich, IL; one sister-in-law, Shirley Goebel of Dotyville; and one brother-in-law, Tom Scannell of Fond du Lac.



Bernadette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; two grandchildren, Shelly Krahn and Timothy Blatz; one great grandchild, Ellie Pionke; one son-in-law, Gary Smith; three sisters, Marge Johanski, Marcella “Sis” Scannell, and Lorraine Flood; two brothers, John and Eugene Goebel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert Dietzen, Edward Braatz Sr., Bob Liesendahl, Stanley Johanski, and Mary Ann Goebel. Bernadette was also preceded in death by all of her husband’s sisters and brothers, Alvina Reed, Evelyn Hanson, Bernice Blackmore, Frank Petrie, Clarence, Edwin, Lawrence, Leo and Raymond Blatz.



The visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm at Uecker Witt Funeral Home and again from 9:00 -10:00 am on Friday at church.



The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Shepherds of the Hills Catholic Church with Rev. Neil Zinthefer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Dotyville.
