Bernice F. Scharf, 90, of Fond du Lac, and a resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for the past 2 ½ years, died peacefully Wednesday, December 1, 2010 with her daughter Sharon at her side. She was born July 18, 1920 in Fond du Lac the daughter of Joseph and Ella Perry Balthazor. On October 23, 1943 she married Raymond F. Scharf at St. Louis Parsonage and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1993. Bernice lived in Dodge County until moving to Taycheedah in 1981. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. Bernice volunteered for the Red Cross helping at blood drives, was very active in school activities with her children. Bernice was very athletic, playing on the Fond du Lac Women's Basketball Team in her youth. While living in Theresa she played softball with teammates half her age. She was also a Bowling Fanatic, on leagues at Parkway and Ledgeview Lanes from 1980 till 2008.Bernice enjoyed traveling, golfing and going to dances with her husband.SURVIVORS: one son, Dan (Mary) Scharf, Alamogordo, NM; two daughters, Sharon (Paul) Boegel, Kewaskum, WI, Barbara VanPelt, Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren, Jodi (James) Ryan, Tari (Peter) Phillips, Brent (Stacey) Boegel, Blake Boegel, Danielle Zills, Jeremy Zills, Amanda Zills; four great grandchildren, Rylan, Brianna, Jessica, Isaac; nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Gary, one brother, Raymond; one sister, Lorraine.
VISITATION: will be from 12 noon "“ 2 PM on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. There will be no formal funeral service.
