Betty Jane Marx, 89, a resident of St. Francis Terrace, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 04, 2016, surrounded by her three loving daughters. She was born May 5, 1926, in Ripon, the daughter of Henry and Edna Hanson Hobbs. Betty was a graduate of Ripon High School. She married James Thomas Marx She moved to Fond du Lac in 1962. Betty was formerly employed by Fond du Lac Social Services as a Manager of Financial Eligibility Assessors for 27 years until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed bridge marathons, playing cards, casinos, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her yearly stays in Las Vegas.
Surviving are three daughters, Christine (Ronald) Kromm of Oshkosh, Mary Lynn (Robert) Schraufnagel of Lomira, and Susan (Steve Endries) Bovinet of Fond du Lac, 10 grandchildren, Amy (Andrew) Osenar, Alison (Jeremy) Wineberg, Andrea (Emory) Nelson, Brooke (Joseph) Keenan, Laura Jane Bovinet, Eric (Whitney) Schraufnagel, Ryan Bovinet, Krista and David Schraufnagel, and Lindsey Susan (Corey) Bortner, five step- granddaughters, Jennie (Todd) Muckerheide, Dana (Ryan) Wuesthoff, Morgan, Abby, and Olivia Endries, nine great-grandchildren, Lucille, Charlotte, Samuel, Silas, Benjamin, Grace, Leein, Anna Jane, and Joseph Fuller, and six step great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Hammen of Ripon, and Maxine Klingbeil of Sheboygan. She is also survived by many special friends including Jeanne and Audrey. Her parents, her step-mother, Laura Hobbs, a niece, Julie and a nephew, Kevin, and two brothers-in-law, Orice Hammen and Arlyn Klingbeil, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Betty Jane Marx will be on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 1 to 3 PM at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 PM on Wednesday. Rev. Adrian Staehler will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment of cremated remains in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum will follow the services. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
