Betty L. Gellings

Betty L. Gellings, 81, returned to heaven from her home in Eden on November 5, 2017. She was born on November 26, 1935 to Arthur and Emaline (Splittgerber) Weisjohn in Fond du Lac. After graduating from L.P. Goodrich High School, Betty worked as a keypunch operator for Threshermen Insurance Company. While attending a dance with friends in Oshkosh, Betty met her future husband, Jerome E. Gellings. They were married on April 18, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fond du Lac.



Gardening was a big part of Betty’s life and she spent many hours on flower beds around her home and garden vegetables for canning and freezing. She also loved reading, particularly mysteries and local history, and working on craft projects. When her children joined 4-H, Betty served as the general leader of the Wonder Workers 4-H Club for many years. She also enjoyed time with friends on a Tuesday morning bowling team once her children were in school.



In addition to her husband, Jerry, Betty is survived by three children; Steve (Lisa) of Monroe, WI, Donna (Dennis) Duley of Fond du Lac, and Brian (Sandra) of Quinton, VA; six grandchildren, Timothy (Ashley), Patrick and Erin Gellings, Jacob Wood (fiancé Jessica), Jonathon and Kelly Gellings; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Isaiah, and Evelynn; and sisters-in-law Darlene (Neil) Delorme and Mary (Orville) Nimmer as well as other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and in laws, Arthur Sr. and Stella Gellings; and Arthur Jr. and Genevieve Gellings.



Visitation for Betty will be held from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church – Holy Family, 200 S. Peters Ave. in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Entombment in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery will follow the services.
