Beverly “Bev” M. Bonnett, 78, of Rosendale, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with her devoted family by her side. Beverly was born December 24, 1939 to parents John and Hazel (Ross) Soravia.
On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1955 Beverly married Ronald “Ronnie” Bonnett in a candlelight service at the Methodist church in Rosendale. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on December 31, 2015, and reminisced about how relatives at their wedding said it would never last. By the age of 21, Bev was the proud mother of five children she and Ronnie lovingly referred to as their five little monsters. When asked what their secret to success was, Bev always said while pointing to her ears, little intake and big exhaust. Ronnie preceded Bev in death on February 12, 2016.
Bev was a hardworking woman who retired in 1999 from Electri-Wire in Waupun. Prior to that she worked at Giddings and Lewis Electronics and was a waitress for 20+ years at various restaurants including Stretch Truck Stop, Ransom’s, Petrie’s, and Bell’s Truck Stop that used to be north of Fond du Lac on Hwy 41 where she started her waitress career. Bev’s sister Sandy Soravia was a cook at the same time Bev waitressed at the Stretch, Petrie’s and Bell’s; and Bev’s daughter Debbie worked with Bev and Sandy at Petrie’s. Bev always had good memories and fun waitressing stories to share with her family.
Bev married and became a mother at a very young age, and didn’t finish high school. She often talked about getting her G. E. D. and in 2001 proudly accomplished that. Her family was even prouder and had a surprise graduation party for her.
Bev was proud of and always thankful for being a three-time cancer survivor.
Throughout her life Bev enjoyed being a prankster, camping with her family in a school bus Ronnie converted into a camper, camp fires, playing cards, golfing, tipping a few drinks at Woodhull with Harv and Dot, word puzzles, going to the casino, working in her flower gardens, reading, watching TV, playing games on the computer, alone time, naps when she could, fur babies, and bird watching, especially cardinals, orioles, and hummingbirds. Most of all, Bev enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family. She was always so proud of her children and made sure they had their special birthday meal and birthday cake, along with a very sentimental card, no matter how old they were, to let them know how much she loved and cherished them. Her hugs and kisses always lasted long after she let go.
Bev was a wonderful cook. Her meat loaf was one of many family favorites. No one ever left her table wanting for more. Loosening of the belt was often required after finishing her fantastic meals.
Beverly is survived by five children including Cindy Bonnett and Deb Waggener, Fond du Lac; Rick (Denise) Bonnett and Mike Bonnett, Rosendale; and Beth (Steve) Voskuil, Waupun. Beverly is further survived by five grandchildren including David (Heather) Waggener, Brittney (Cory) Zickert, Brenden (Danielle Rank) Bonnett, Katie (Bryon Schrank) Voskuil, and Nick (Jana) Voskuil; seven great grandchildren including Harper Wurtz and Greyson Bonnett, Jaylyn and Lauryn Waggener, Pierson and Quinnley Zickert, and Brynley Schrank; sister-in-law, Vivian Starr and brother-in-law, Wes Bonnett of Fond du Lac; special cousin, Shirley Muskevitsch of Van Dyne; Goddaughter, Tracey Tackett; fur babies Buddy, Elsie and KC; and many other family and friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Bonnett; parents, John and Hazel Soravia, sister, Sandra Soravia, infant brother, John Soravia, infant brother, Ronnie Soravia and step-brother, Lawrence Soravia; parents-in-law, Laverne and Margaret Bonnett, son-in-law, Roy Waggener Jr. and sister-in-law, Sandy Bonnett.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at ThedaCare for their care and compassion given to Beverly and her family.
Per Bev’s wishes, private family services and cremation will take place.
Mom, you always put others before yourself. You were a wonderful mom and will be in our hearts forever. Words cannot adequately express all that you mean to us and how blessed we’ve been to be your sons and daughters. You are loved so very much and already greatly missed. We cherish all our special memories of you and will talk of you often to keep your memory alive for generations to come. Rest in peace, Mom. All our love, until we meet again, your five little monsters.
