Bonnie Jean Christ, age 82, died Thursday August 14, 2014 at the Sterling House in Fond du Lac. She was born on February 6, 1932 the daughter of George and Blanche (Caird) Smithers. She married Frederick Christ on December 2, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2008. Bonnie was an active member of the Cathedral Church of St Paul Fond du Lac and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Waupun. She was also an Associate of the Sisters of The Holy Nativity and longtime member of the Christian Woman’s Club. In High School she was crowned Honor Queen of Job’s Daughters. Bonnie was a wonderful artist. She is most noted for her religious wood-grain paintings on oak. She had a unique way of seeing the image in the wood and creating beautiful paintings that people display around the world, including the State Capitol in Madison. Bonnie also did some art instruction and gave several talks to groups about her art techniques. She was a very devoted mother who loved to take care of and joke with her children. Bonnie loved to entertain, travel around the world with her husband, family and friends, greatly enjoyed living on the lake and loved her dogs. She was a loving wife, dearly loved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and loyal trusted friend.
Survivors: Three children, Fred L. (Celeste) Christ, Lynn (Don) Gudmanson, Sue Novak, ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren, a sister Catherine Bowden and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Christ, her parents, George and Blanche Smithers, her brother James Smithers, brothers-in-law Dee Bowden and Leroy Christ, sisters-in-law Joan Christ and Mary Smithers, grandson Adam Novak age 20 KIA 8/27/10 in Afghanistan, and son-in-law Greg Novak.
VISITATION: Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. FUNERAL: Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Reverend Brian Beno officiating. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment of cremains will take place at a later date at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
