Bruce “Scratch” E. Steiner, 63, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 27, 1951 in Fond du Lac, the son of Paul H. and Lillian B. Mathwig Steiner. Bruce was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1969 – 1971. On November 1, 1991 he married Rose M. Hass at Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. Bruce was a die caster for Mercury Marine for 34 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #270 and American Legion Post 75. Bruce was the sound man and drummer for the Jerry Ward Band for many years. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, working on and fixing computers, and especially loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; four children, Terry (Lee Ann) Steiner, Charlotte, NC, Melannie (special friend, Pete Bollone) Steiner, North Fond du Lac, Davis (Amy) Steiner, Fond du Lac, and Samantha Steiner, Fond du Lac; five grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Debra) Steiner and Thomas Steiner, both of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by three half brothers; three half sister; one step brother; two step sisters; a special niece, Charlene Steiner; two special nephews, Sean Steiner and Jesse Ives; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Terry; a half brother; and an uncle, Fred “Fritz” Mathwig.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. There will be no formal funeral services and cremation has taken place.
