Bruce R. Schubert

Bruce Roger Schubert, 63, of Fond du Lac died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at University Hospital, Madison. He was born August 6, 1947 in Fond du Lac, the son of Roger and Betty Vine Schubert. Bruce attended St. Peters Lutheran School, WLA and graduated from Goodrich in 1966. Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967 until 1977, at that time he moved back to FdL and met the love of his life Debbie. On October 16, 1981 he married Debbie K. Treleven in Fond du Lac with honor attendants, Buck and Jan Hoffman. Bruce was employed at Lee Beverage from 1980-1986. In 1987 he reenlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a Unit Administrator for Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Beaver Dam Reserve Centers before his retirement as Master Sergeant in 2007. Bruce was an active member of Blue Line Hockey for 15 years; he also served on the Board of Directors. Bruce loved to hunt, watch sports and old war & western movies, but most of all he loved his wife of 28 years, Debbie, his children, grandchildren and his 'special' son-in-law, Jason. In return, Bruce was deeply loved by his family and neighbors who he was always willing to lend a 'tool' or a 'hand'. Bruce had another love and that was the Army and the soldier. He served his country honorably and always took care of the 'soldier'. In March of this year, Bruce took his last vacation to visit his mom in Corpus Christi. He enjoyed spending many of our vacations going to Texas to spend time with his family there, but this one will always be especially memorable for us all.SURVIVORS: his wife, Debbie, Fond du Lac; four daughters, Teresa (David) Bond, California, Andrea (Kurt Koenigs) Ilkenhans, Fond du Lac, Aimee (Jason) Fink, Fond du Lac, Brooke Schubert, Fond du Lac; one son, Bradley (Holly Holte) Schubert, Madison; seven grandchildren, Haley Ilkenhans, Madeline Fink, Zoe Bond, Shelby Ilkenhans, Trever Fink, Sebastian Schommer, Abygail Miners. He is further survived by his mother, Betty Bradley, Corpus Christi, TX; four siblings, Carol (Dennis) Haessly, Plainfield, John (Jane) Schubert, Fond du Lac, Jim (Rosemari) Bradley, Mansfield, TX, Bob (Debi) Bradley, Sandia, TX; one step sister, Dawn (Paul) Drake, Plover; his mother-in-law, Nancy Goin, Fond du Lacthree brothers-in-law, James (Judy) Treleven, Tony (Michelle) Treleven, Rick (Nora) Treleven, all of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Roger Schubert and Gustus Smoot Bradley; father-in-law, James Treleven.
