Bruce's wishes came true as he was reunited with his daughter Serena in Heaven on September 5, 2012, at his residence. He was born June 14, 1937, in Fond du Lac, the son of Raymond and Della Eickhoff Steffen. He was a 1955 graduate of Goodrich High School. On June 12, 1993, he married Pearl Samson at Luther Memorial Church of which he was a founding member. Bruce was formerly employed by Giddings & Lewis from 1966 to 1998, when he retired as an inspector. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #270 and the National Rifle Association. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing.Surviving is his wife, Pearl, a daughter, Jan (Ron) Chaney of Fond du Lac and their daughter, Jayna, Serena's three sons, Brian, Brett, and Ben, a brother, James W. (Bonnie) Steffen of Fond du Lac, three step-daughters, Penny VanderWielen of Pittsburgh, PA, Ginger Schmitt of Kaukauna, and Leah (Ed) Howard of Little Chute, a step-son, Dean (Birgit) Tucker of Appleton, eight step-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends including Pat and Margaret Hicken of Fond du Lac, and his former wife, Darlene Steffen, of Fond du Lac.He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Serena Loehr, and a sister, Betty Moore.
Visitation for Bruce R. Steffen will be on Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 1 to 3:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3:30 PM at the funeral home on Sunday. Rev. Neal Radichel will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment services will be at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Luther Memorial Church and School, 134 21st Street, Fond du Lac.
