Bruce "Tucson" W. Hoyt

Bruce “Tucson” W. Hoyt, 80, of Rosendale, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at Tower View Villa in Rosendale where he had lived for the past six months. He was born January 16, 1936 in Fond du Lac, the son of Ralph and Mae Pillar Hoyt. A graduate of Rosendale High School, Bruce went on to serve in the U.S. Army in Korea from July 1958 – July 1960. On December 27, 1969 he married Darlene L. Stollfuss at United Church of Christ in Rosendale. She preceded him in death on August 5, 1993.



Bruce earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Rosendale Boy Scout Troop. In his adult years he served in Boy Scout leadership roles including assistant scoutmaster. He was employed for many years at Speed Queen (now Alliance Laundry) in Ripon, retiring in 1997. He also worked part-time as a farrier where he trimmed and applied shoes on horses’ hooves for many area horse owners. Bruce enjoyed farming, walking, crossword puzzles, and music; he loved horses, Old West movies and had an amazing memory for recalling statistics and dates.



He is survived by his son, Justin Hoyt of Rosendale; two brothers, Harlan Hoyt of California and John (Carol) Hoyt of Rosendale; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Darlene; one brother and three sisters.



The visitation will be held from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Wanda Veldman, a family friend formerly of Rosendale, will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.
