Carl Emery Luger was born on the 18th of May, 1936 at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He was baptized on the 5th of December, 1937 in Kingston, Wisconsin. Emery spent his childhood years in the Kingston and Fairwater areas. He graduated from Brandon High School in 1954 and was confirmed on the 14th of April, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan, Wisconsin. On the 14th of September, 1957 Emery married Doris Deibert at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He served two years, 1959 to 1961, in the United States Amy 3rd Armored Division in Germany. After his discharge from military service, Emery took up the sheet metal trade and retired after 37 years from Groeschel Company Inc. as a journeyman on the 30th of June 1998.
Throughout his life, Emery enjoyed farming; he raised buffalo on his farm near Eden. In the summers, Emery loved to tour across the country with his family driving to destinations in almost every state from Alaska to Florida.
Emery is survived by his loving wife, Doris and their two sons, Dean (Jennifer) Luger and David Luger; and niece, Stephanie (Don) Woodruff of Spokane, Washington. Emery is proceeded in death by his parents, Johann and Maria (Schiller) Luger of Ripon, Wisconsin, and brother, John (Phyliss) Luger of Libby, Montana.
The visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Zuberbier officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held in Estabrooks Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Michael Sergi, Dr. Hari and staff at Grace Clinic at Froedtert, and also Sue and the West Bend support group for the help and concern.
