Dr. Carl J. Saggio "Doc", 65, of Fond du Lac Wi, passed away peacefully on Saturday Nov. 24th, surrounded by his family and friends at St. Agnes Hospital.Carl was born Nov. 13th 1942, in Milwaukee, Wi., the son of Thomas and Dominica Saggio.He was raised in Shorewood, Wi. and went to Shorewood High School, where he met Nancy Rudolph; they were married in 1966. Upon Graduation, he attended Marquette University and graduated with his B.S. and continued his education at Marquette School of Medicine where he graduated with a Degree in Medicine. He began his medical career in 1969 with an internship at Columbia Hospital in Shorewood.In 1969, During the War in Vietnam, he served as a Flight Surgeon and as a Captain in the Army. During that time, he was awarded Silver and Bronze Metals and a Vietnamese Commendation of Honor. He was honorably discharged in 1971.Carl and Nancy started a new life in Fond du Lac. He began practicing at the Associated Physicians Clinic until it merged with the F.D.L. Regional Clinic. After 25 years there, he moved over to the Urgent Care and was there for 11 years before his retirement in 2006.Carl was a member of the H.O.G Chapter for many years. He is also a Model Railroad Enthusiast and served as President of the Model Railroaders Assoc. He is the Charter Past President of the Evening Lions and past President of the Medical Society. He was a member of the Music Parents Assoc. and served as Chief of the FDL Indian Guides.Carl was a kind and generous man who touched the lives of so many people in the community in so many different ways. Carl was a loving husband to Nancy, a wonderful father to Thomas and Heidi and the greatest "Moppy" ever to his grandkids, Kelly and Carson. He will truly be missed by all.Carl is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy, his Son Thomas of St. Louis Mo., his Daughter Heidi (Ryan) Murphy of FDL and his pride and joy; his grandchildren, Kelly Saggio and Carson Murphy, both of FDL.He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Thomas and Dominica Saggio, and his Father-in-Law Donald Rudolph.



A visitation will be held at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home on Wed., Nov. 28th from 4pm-8pm and on Thur. Nov. 29th from 9am-10am with a service at 10am, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with the Rev. Barbara Carmichael and the Rev.Tony Farina officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of Rest, Ledgeview Memorial Park to follow.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the St. Agnes Foundation in Carl's Name."A special thanks to Drs. Kunkel, Bowman and Hord and all of the nurses at the I.C.U. You were all so kind to our family."
