Carla Nancy (Shaffer) HouleIt is with deep sorrow to inform you that my wife, Carla, at the age of 48 has passed away in my arms at our home, 24 Arvey Lane, after a courageous battle with cancer. Carla was born in Manitowoc, WI on November 30, 1957. When Carla was a young child her family moved to Fond du Lac. Carla graduated from Goodrich High School in 1976. After high school, Carla continued her education and received an Associate Degree in drug and alcohol counseling. Carla was employed for the past seven years at the Wisconsin Resource Center as a psychiatric care technician. She is survived by her husband of five years, Kevin, whom is her best friend for eternity. Carla has one special son Kenneth and his wife, Sara Jacobs of St. Cloud, and also their daughter, Anna. Carla's granddaughter was the sparkle in Carla's eyes. Carla also has a daughter, Jamie, who was raised by her with lots of love and a very special friendship that no other mother and daughter could ask for. Jamie resides in Oshkosh with her boyfriend, Andy Schneider. Carla has three stepsons who she loved very much, Gus Houle and girlfriend, Becky, Sam Houle and his wife, Lindsey, and Ben Houle, all of Oshkosh. Also surviving Carla is her father and stepmother, Wilbur and Jackie Shaffer of Wautoma, and her mother, Joanne Mathison, of Oshkosh. Peggy Shaffer, her only sister lives in Oshkosh with her friend, Connie Strauss. Carla wants Peg to know that she is the best sister that she would ever want. Carla has two brothers that she adores and loves very much, Walter Shaffer and wife Connie of Fond du Lac, and Steve Shaffer and wife Chris of Grans Pass, OR. Carla has many other loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Carla's always caring in-laws, Kenneth and Joan Houle of Wabeno, WI loved what she did for their son.Carla and her family were blessed with the friendship of Frank and Terry Scannell of Fond du Lac. Carla's girlfriend for life was Barb Gibberd of Gilman, WI. Carla and Larry Stubbe of Neshkoro, WI were like a brother and sister to Carla for most of her life. Carla and Larry's daughter, Christine Trinrud, was Carla's beautiful, loving Goddaughter. Carla had two awesome friends, Kari Cupertino of Fond du Lac, and Maggie Engle of Oshkosh. Carla loved animals and was always happy to have dogs, Bobo and Oreo, and two cats, Gizzi and Baby to be there to give her so much comfort. Preceding her in death were her stepfather, Ralph Mathison, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.Carla was known as a woman who had a deep inner strength and a deep spirituality. Carla was always straight up with everybody, that's why everyone loved and respected her so much. Carla loved life and everything about it.
Carla and her family feel so deeply grateful to Oshkosh Correctional Institution and Wisconsin Resource Center who came together for us and unselfishly donated many hours of personal time and also had a benefit all so Carla and I could spend the rest of our loving precious life together.Carla and her family are ever so grateful for Hospice Home Care. They came into our home in such a caring and gentle way and became a part of our family. They are the most loving and special people and will never be forgotten. Carla and her family would like to thank all their friends and family who brought so much love into their lives. God blessed us all with Carla. Carla will never be forgotten and will be our angel forever with all of us.
