Carol J. Smidl

Carol Jean Smidl, 72, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home in Fond du Lac. She was born July 31, 1944 to Arden and Jeannette Hinz. Carol married Lynn Oppermann in 1965 and on March 26, 1983 she married Bohumil Smidl. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking and catering. Carol owned Carol and Bob’s Kitchen and also worked in bakeries and group homes.



She is survived by three children, James (Lori) Oppermann, Scott (Kerry) Oppermann, and Michele (David) Laabs; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Meyers, Nick Derr, Amber Bartatto, Samantha Roblee, Alexis Warner, Alexander Oppermann, Tyler Deiss, and Leah Reyna; several great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, James (Priscilla) Hinz; four step siblings; six step children; and eight step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, William Oppermann; and a brother, Richard Hinz.



The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 20017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nekimi. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nekimi with Rev. James Reiff officiating. Burial will be held in Scheller Cemetery.
