Carol J. Zarske Theis, of the Town of Oakfield, left this world in the early morning hours of November 27, 2022. She passed away from complications of triple hit lymphoma from which she dealt with for two years. Carol died comfortably in peace and with her husband close by her side. Carol had a positive attitude throughout this ordeal. She was amazing. Carol was born December 15, 1954 to Albert Alden and Marjorie Rose Zarske in Brookfield, WI.
She married Jim Theis April 18, 1998. Carol received her undergraduate degree from UW Oshkosh in 1977 in Special Education and her post master’s degree from UW Milwaukee. She started out her career as a classroom teacher of multiple disabilities and eventually worked her way up to leadership roles. Carol retired in 2010 as an Executive Director of Special Ed with CESA6.
Carol had many hobbies and fun things to do. Her favorite time spent was going to the cabin up north. While there she loved to fish, swim, paddle board, water ski, and hike in the national forest. Her spirit lives at the cabin. For friends and family, she created many skin care products and soap that they loved. Carol was also very proficient in making many crochet and embroidery items for others.
Carol and Jim had soft spots in their hearts for those who would benefit from enjoying their therapy dogs, Sunbeam and Wrigley. They visited many people such as the Veterans at King, children at schools, and those in need at the Christian Home. Their dogs gave pleasure, smiles, and created many happy hearts. The same can be said of Carol.
Carol also enjoyed watching and cheering for the Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers as well as for the Green Bay Packers. She was quite astute at playing cribbage and sheepshead. Carol was quite fond of traveling the USA and Canada with Jim as well as attending the Kentucky Derby on a regular basis since 1988.
Carol is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Jennifer Luebke and Laura (Kevin) Tillman; brother, John Zarske; sisters, Peg (Rich) Lazarchic and Mary (Norbert) Buchmann; aunt, Catie; and sister-in-law, Cathy (John) Wojkiewicz. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Will and Addie Luebke and Westen, Carter, and Xander Tillman; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Those who preceded her in death are her parents; brothers-in-law, John Theis Jr. and Thomas Theis; and sisters-in-law, Helen Ann Scheurman and KC Theis.
Carol would like to thank the many doctors and nurses from Froedert Memorial and St. Agnes Hospitals, as well as SSM Cancer Center. Carol was extremely grateful for the tremendous care and treatment she received. She would also like to thank her friends and neighbors, Steve and Nancy Auchtung for all of the love, friendship, and support.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol’s memory may be directed to Kathy’s House Inc., SSM Cancer Center, or Healing Paws of Fond du Lac.
