Carol Jean Thome

November 28, 1964 — October 12, 2013

Carol Jean Thome, 48, of Ripon, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Manor Care in Fond du Lac. She was born November 28, 1964 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Dennis E. and Joanne Olig Thome. Carol was born with Down Syndrome and moved into a group home in Ripon when she was 18 years old. She worked at Ripon Area Services Center, now Diverse Options for 30 years. On August 26, 2013 Carol fell and injured her spine which left her a quadriplegic. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed rummage sales, going out to eat, collecting, bus trips, was very social and enjoyed life.She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Joanne Thome, Fond du Lac; four siblings, Dr. Judene (John) Gochenaur, Centerville, OH, Theodore Thome, Oakdale, CA, Michael (Kay) Thome, Hudson, WI, and James (Amy) Thome, Mt. Calvary, WI; nieces and nephews, Andrew and Daniel Gochenaur, Shelby Thome, Kaitlyn Thome, Bethany, Stephany and Brian Thome; and Carol's family at Mary Ridge Group Home in Ripon. She is further survived by other relatives, Doris DuWell and family, Mary Jean Beyer and family, Rose Marie Thome and family, Betty Thome and family, Marian "Missy" Cotter, Eugene & Dorothy Olig and family, Norine & Keith Rodenkirch and family, Carol (friend, Greg) Olig, Rose & Dave Kolstad and family, Sue Pfeiffer and family, Bob & Deb Olig and Steven.She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dennis P. and Caroline Thome, Bruno "Ted" and Aurelia Olig; sister-in-law, Nancy Thome; aunts and uncles, LaVern Beyer, Eugene DuWell, Gordon Thome, Earl Thome, Alois (Marcella) Thome, Marion (Jack) Cotter.



The visitation will be held from 4:00 "“ 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter. The Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter. Private family burial will take place Friday in St. Charles Cemetery.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Agnesian Hospice, Manor Care Health Services, Dr. Mann and the 5th and 6th floor staff at St. Agnes Hospital, all of Carol's friends in Ripon, including Sherry Simon at Mary Ridge Group Home and the entire staff at Diverse Options for their support for Carol throughout her life.
