Catherine W. Beckley entered into eternal peace on Feb. 18, 2004. after courageously battling the ravages of diabetes. The former Catherine Thomas was born May 4, 1924 in St. Louis, MO., to Charles and Margaret Thomas. She married Amos Beckley on Aug 10, 1949, and celebrated life with him for 30 years. They wonderfully parented and loved their three children. William (wife, Lorie) of Chattanooga,Tenn. Barbara (husband, Don Millage) of Fond du Lac, WI and Mary (husband, Jim Ayer) of Oakfield, WI. Amos preceded Catherine in death in 1979. Catherine went on to welcome and cherish her seven grandchildren, Will and Kelly Beckley, Michael Millage and Joy, Kathryn, Jamie Lu and Benjamin Ayer. Catherine was also the beloved sister and friend to her six siblings, the late Charles Thomas, Charlotte Schoolcraft, Marjorie VanderWall, Robert Thomas, Nancy Grossman and Betty Lou DeVries. Catherine proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and modeled sacrificial love to all that knew her. She was blessed in the last months of her life with outstanding love and care from the staff at Rollin Meadows Nursing Home and Hospice of Fond du Lac. She formerly resided at the Riverview Apartments, 101 Western Ave. Catherine was a long time member of Forest Park Covenant Church in Muskegon, Mich., where she resided for over 50 years. After moving to Fond du Lac to be near her family, Catherine was a regular at-tendee of Community Church.
The memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday February 28, 2004, at Community Church in Fond du Lac, with Tim Haugen and Ken Nabi officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday Feb. 28, 2004 at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to, Community Churh or the Disabled American Veterans. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
