Charles H. Thomas, age 96, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at St. Francis Home. He was born on August 1, 1920 in Fond du Lac, the son of Arthur and Rose (Chartrey) Thomas. Charles served in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1945. On July 31, 1943 he married Irene Wagner at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2008. He worked for Dick Bros. Bakery retiring in 1982. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and a lifelong volunteer at St. Mary’s Church. He was a lifelong member of the Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, house fixing, and was the chairman for the Lallier Park restoration.
Survivors five children, Richard (Carol) Thomas of Estero, FL, Karen Miller of Fond du Lac, Marcia (Tom) Basler of Fond du Lac, John Thomas of Fond du Lac, William Thomas of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Linette, Tracy, Tim, Tonya, and Meredith; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Thomas of Port Richey, FL, and Laura Fox-Thomas of Fond du Lac; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Irene; one granddaughter, Alyssa Schoenfelder; his brothers, Ward, Jerry, and Aaron Thomas; his sisters, Naomi, Alvina, and Athleen.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 9:30-11 AM at Sacred Heart Church-Holy Family, 200 S. Peters Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow the service at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be directed to St. Francis Home in honor of Charles Thomas.
