Charles “Tuna” J. Wieinshrott, Jr., 69 of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on November 25, 1944 in Fond du Lac the son of Charles J. and Emeline V. Snyder Weinshrott, Sr. On August 18, 1973 he married Susan M. Thome at the Cathedral of St. Paul. Charles attended Goodrich High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1968 as a surgical technician. For a number of years he worked at St. Agnes Hospital as a surgical technician. He later worked at Best Roll’r and United Packaging where he retired in 2010. He worked as a part-time bartender at the Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No.75 for 35 years. Charles was a member of the Cathedral of St. Paul. For over 40 years he assisted in weekly masses, and served as master of ceremonies/verger at the church. He was a member of the Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75 and Bohlman-Grimes VFW Post No 1904. He enjoyed collecting baseball caps and other hobbies. He also enjoyed going out to eat, telling jokes and had a good sense of humor. He was a Packer and Brewer fan and especially enjoyed going to the Brewers games with his family.
SURVIVORS: Charles is survived by three sons, Jay Weinshrott, Cudahy, Matt (Amber) Weinshrott, Fond du Lac and Gene (Alice) Weinshrott, Glendale; two grandchildren, Cade and Bryce Weinshrott, and ”special grandson” Dante. He is further survived by three sisters, Mary Anne (Kenneth) Wiskow, Fond du Lac, Jeanette Weinshrott, Theresa, and Judith Marquard, Fond du Lac; five half-brothers and sisters, Elly (Gary) Vanderslunt, North Fond du Lac, Karla (Dan) Schroder, Houston,TX, Anne (Nelson) Jaeger, Waupun, Michael Weinshrott, Fond du Lac and Carl Weinshrott, Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Bev Burnett, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Steve Thome, Fond du Lac and Peter (Monica) Thome, Fond du Lac; a special niece, Angie Anderson, Theresa. Charles is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two half-sisters, Betty (Melvin) Schultz and Elaine Vanness; five half-brothers, infant Harold, infant Burnett, Eugene Burnett, Norman Burnett, Delbert Weinshrott; and one brother-in-law, Jerome “Romie” Marquard.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Cathedral of St. Paul, 51 West Division Street, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: A Solemn Requiem Mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Cathedral of St. Paul with Very Reverend Brian Beno officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional service and inurnment will take place in the Cathedral Columbarium.

Also thanks to the staff at Hospice Home of Hope especially Heather, Gail and Jane and to the Doctor’s at the Clement Zablocki Veterans Medical Center, Milwaukee.
