Charles W. EyersCharles W. Eyers, 65, of 399 Nelson Street, Fond du Lac, went home to his Heavenly Father, January 3, 2005, at the Hospice Home of Hope. Chuck was born September 22, 1939, in Oshkosh, the son of the late Charles and Geneva Montag Eyers. Chuck was a 1957 graduate of Oshkosh High School and later attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1959 to 1963. On June 27, 1964, he married Bette Hupfer at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Chuck had many areas of interest in his lifetime. He helped to organize the first chess club in Fond du Lac in the 1970's, and was instrumental in bringing many tournaments to the area. He loved the sports car races at Road America and attended the June Sprints for many years. He was an avid game player and enjoyed playing D & D as well as designing games to play with his grandchildren. A favorite game of Ports of Call was enjoyed by all the friends that Chuck encouraged to play with him. Chuck was employed at Rockwell International of Oshkosh, Mrs. Karls Bakery, and as an insurance agent for many years. His true calling though was as a massage therapist. He loved helping people feel better and considered his vocation as a gift. He was a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and had a private practice in his home. Surviving is his wife, Bette, one son, Steven, of Medford, WI, one daughter, Lisa (Bryan) Bocian, of Fond du Lac, grandchildren Sharon and Dylan Bocian, and Katie Eyers. He is further survived by his sister, Betty Eyers, of Oshkosh, and a brother, Jack (Fiancé' Rhonda Fink) Eyers, of Oxford, WI, two sisters-in-law, Gail Simon, of Fond du Lac, and Ellen (Noel) Losey of Fond du Lac, one brother-in-law, Rod Hupfer, of Litchfield, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends. His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation for Mr. Charles W. Eyers will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2005, from 4 to 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at 7 pm at the funeral home. The Rev. Duane C. Wisner will officiate and cremation will follow the services. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fond du Lac Humane Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
