Chase N. Galle, age 22, died tragically in a car accident on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in Vernon County, WI, returning to his home in Platteville from National Guard duty.
Chase was born on March 24, 1995 in Fond du lac, WI to Robert and Susan (Nelson) Galle and grew up a “country” boy living in Brandon, WI. He graduated from Waupun High School in 2013. Upon graduation, he attended UW-Platteville and received a degree in Criminal Justice graduating summa cum laude in 2017. Chase joined the WI Army National Guard in December 2015 and pursued a career in small arms and artillery repair with the 107th Maintenance Company of the WI Army National Guard in Sparta, WI. Chase was also a member of the Platteville Volunteer Fire Department. He currently was working at Biolife in Dubuque, Iowa. This past summer he worked at Lake Valley Camp in Boscobel, WI as a camp counselor. Chase aspired to be a mountain guide and was looking forward to this next adventure.
Chase is survived by his loving parents, Bob and Sue; his beloved brother, Jake (Shaina) Damm; and cherished by his nephew and niece, Carter and Dahlia Damm; along with his adoring grandma, Bea “Grammapants” Galle. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Maureen (Leath) Sheppard, Kathy (Dennis) Reitz, Vicki (Tom Penfield) Nelson, and Paula (Scott Jarvis) Metcaffe. He is also survived by cousins, Conner, Chandler, Corrine Metcaffe, Mark Sheppard, Teri (Rob) McDermott, Jodi (Chris) Martin, Jeremy (Andrea Chatfield) Rockweit, Angie (Jeff) Miller, Tom (Maria) Sheppard, Christopher Reitz, Ashley Reitz, Marisa (Curt Howe) Abrahamson; and second cousins Brad, Nolan, Ben, Quinn, Brooke, Derek, Tyler, Riley, Gryffin and Levi.
Chase was preceded in death by grandparents, Maury and Betty Nelson and Don Galle.
Chase was a true renaissance man and had many diverse interests. A few that come to mind include soccer, swing dancing, wood burning, knife collecting, parkour, mountain climbing, poem writing, jewelry making, drawing, crafts, board games, camping, hiking, wood splitting, survivalist and a true prankster at heart. He had an affinity for wearing bandanas of many designs and colors. Together, Chase and Bob both received a black belt in tae kwon do and earned national championships at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
Chase had so many friends near and far and would be the first to comfort those in need and put a smile on your face. His enthusiasm and positivity were infectious. In memory of Chase please do your best to help others, always smile, give lots of hugs and make this world a happier place.
Chase is the epitome of dance like no one is watching.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12:00-4:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Military honors for Chase will take place at the funeral home at 4:00 PM following the visitation. A memorial will be established.
