Chester J. “Jim” Kemnitz, age 83, of Eldorado, died Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at his residence. He was born on October 31, 1939, in Eldorado, the son of Chester A. and Irene (Hackbarth) Kemnitz. Jim served in the United States Army. On April 20, 1963, he married Sandra L. Wix at St. Peter’s in Eldorado. This year they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Jim retired from Creative Forming in Ripon. Jim spent time as the Fire Chief in Eldorado. He enjoyed collecting antiques, blacksmithing, hunting, fishing, road trips to the casino, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include, his wife, Sandy; his children, Mike (fiancé Karen Treptow) Kemnitz, Jodi (Tom) Bocik; grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Lohry, Alyssa (Travis) Anderson, Ian Treptow, Sydney Treptow, Ryan (Danielle) Bocik, Kyle (Amanda) Bocik, Mia Bocik; great-grandchildren, Ailish, Shyla, Saylor, Daxten, Lyydi, Leo, and Max; his siblings, Mary Kaiser, Gary (Faye) Kemnitz, Alice (Jeff) Wittchow, Kaye Albrecht, Dave Kemnitz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Freiberg, Nancy Kemnitz, Carol Kemnitz, Fred Mattheis, Barb Wix, Dick (Mary) Wix, Mary (John) McCadden, Frank Wix; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Koentopp; his brothers, Louie (Lucille) Kemnitz, Steve Kemnitz, Tom Kemnitz; his sisters, JoAnn Freiberg and Sally Mattheis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Kaiser, Reine Albrecht, Beth Kemnitz, Bob Wix, Carol (Si) Weigel, and Judy Wix.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran church, 1010 Adams Ave, North Fond du Lac, WI, 54937. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the church. Military graveside services will take place at church following the service. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church or to SSM Hospice.
