CHESTER W. BLISSChester "Sam" W. Bliss, 71, of Main Street, Oakfield, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born the son of Chester and Grace Walsh Bliss on January 21, 1936 in Hartford, WI. On July 19, 1958 he married Nancy L. Kroner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour, WI. He worked as a switchman for GTE for 42 years retiring in December of 1996. Chester was a member of Sons of Zebedee-St. James Church, Oakfield and the Oakfield Fire Department. He also volunteered for many years for the Salvation Army. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing and loved spending time with his family. SURVIVORS: his wife, Nancy; four children, Scott (Mary) Bliss, Pewaukee, WI, Leanne (Leo) Sapala, Plymouth, WI, Sarah (Steve) Mueller, Pewaukee, WI, and Polly (Craig) Liegel, DePere, WI; eight grandchildren, Ben and Courtney Bliss, Shaun (Dana) and Nathan Sapala, Travis and Emma Mueller, Sam and Max Liegel; three sisters, Judy Sachs, Howard, WI, Joan (David) Weber, Marshfield, WI, Mary Charters, Greenport, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Roger Sachs and Phil Charters.
VISITATION: will be from 4-8PM on Monday, November 26, 2007 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Sons of Zebedee, St. James Church, Oakfield with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. Cremation will follow traditional services with private family inurnment at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Chet's name.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
