Christian L. "Chris" EngebregtsenChristian L. "Chris" Engebregtsen, 76, of 523 Illinois Avenue, North Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 10, 2005, at St. Agnes Hospital. He showed extreme courage to his family in light of all the health struggles that he was confronted with. He was born November 18, 1928, in West Allis, WI, a son of Christian and Matilda Liempeck Engebregtsen. On April 24, 1948, he married Eileen Quigley at St. Matthias Church in West Allis. Mr. Engebregtsen was formerly employed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections as a correctional officer at Kettle Moraine and Oshkosh for over 28 years, retiring in August of 1987. He was a member of the North Fond du Lac Optimist Club, the North Fond du Lac Businessmen's Club, an organizer of NFDL Pride Day since it began in 1990, a member of the Kettle Moraine Retirees, a past union president of Local #163 of ASCME, a board member of the Kettle Moraine Credit Union, and was a former village trustee and past village president of North Fond du Lac. Surviving is his wife, Eileen, five daughters, Christine "Tina" Sprout of Milwaukee, Bonnie (Al) Lueck of Baraboo, WI, Karen (David) Schroeder of Jackson, TN, Linda (Gary) Jacobs of Lomira, and Susan (Alan) Kennedy of Rosendale, seven sons, David (Mary) Engebregsten of Fond du Lac, Stephen (Sandy) Engebregtsen of New Berlin, Jim Engebregtsen of Glenwood, MN, Daniel (Sandy) Engebregtsen of Van Dyne, John (Jennifer) Engebregtsen of Rosendale, Allen (Lynn) Engebregtsen of North Fond du Lac, and Christian "Tom" Engebregtsen III of Van Dyne, 27 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Mary Jane (Jerry) Waldvogel of Menomonee Falls, and seven sisters-in-law, Rosemary Mehring of Big Bend, WI, Dorothy Kleist of West Allis, Noreen Hoffman of Scottsdale, AZ, Mary Peebles of West Allis, Dolly (Joe) Brouillet of Amherst, WI, Celia Quigley of Cudahy and Dottie Quigley of Milwaukee, and Mary Jo Quigley of Allenton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Paul, his brothers, Don, Bob, Dick, Bill, and Danny, and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Engebregtsen, Bernie Engebregtsen, Jack, Dan, and Ed Quigley, Bob Mehring, Ken Hoffman, and Gordon Kleist.
Visitation for Mr. Christian Engebregtsen will be on Saturday, February 12, 2005, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 12, 2005, at 1:30 pm at the funeral home. The Rev. Ken Nabi will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
