Christine M. Strebe

Christine M. Strebe, 74, of Eden, died Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Abridge Care Cottage in Ripon. She was born on December 3, 1948, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Nickless) Van Asten. Christine graduated from Maria High School in Stevens Point. On May 30, 1970, she married Thomas Strebe at St. Mary’s Church, Eden. Christine was the director of religious education at St. Mary’s Church for ten years. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church, Eden, the Eden Fireman Women’s Auxiliary, and the Fond du Lac Artist Association. Christine loved to craft, sew, and quilt in her spare time.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas “Tom”; three children, Marie (Joseph Smullen) Gruenberger, Susan (Nicholas R.) Gray; and Paul (Myra) Strebe; granddaughter, Sarah Gruenberger; three step grandchildren; Kayla (Robert) Johnson, Hannah Gray, and Nicholas D. Gray; two sisters, Patricia Essmann and Cecelia Jones; brother, Guy Van Asten; good friends, Stu and Jane Muck; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Betty; brother, Frances Van Asten; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Essmann and Dave Jones.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Abridge Care Cottage, Ripon, Lincoln House, Fond du Lac and Heartland Hospice.
