Clarence Austin

May 2, 1943 — July 12, 2014

Clarence "Bobby" Austin, son of Mr. Irving and the late Mrs. Mary R Austin, was born on May 2, 1943 in Horntown, Virginia. He was called to his eternal rest on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at his home in Fond du Lac Wisconsin.

Clarence was educated in Accomack County Public schools where he graduated from Mary N. Smith High School. His Christian faith and life foundation began at an early age at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Horntown, Virginia. At his passing, he was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Clarence graduated from Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Army. After a tour in Vietnam, Clarence was assigned to various soil and water conservation (Natural Resources Conservation Services) Districts in the state of Wisconsin as well as the National office. He served the United States Department of Agriculture for 43 years.

Clarence was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Council in Beloit, Wisconsin on June 20, 1981. They made their home in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

In 1998, he retired from the USDA and devoted his years to family, church ministries and educational projects in the Fond du Lac community. Clarence and his good friend, Dr. John Lent, inspired the vision and development of Community Education Opportunities (CEO) to empower children and youth of Fond du Lac with a strong educational foundation. Clarence had a passion for building diverse partnerships with hope of celebrating God's best in the community.



Clarence leaves to cherish great memories: his wife, Mary; his father, Irving Austin; sister Lavenia (George) Fletcher of Horntown, VA; brother Kennis (Annette) Austin of Pocomoke City, MD; a special sister (sister-in law) Gladys Austin of Willingboro, NJ; three nieces born into the family: Sherri Fletcher of Delmar, MD, Sharon (Timothy) Anderson of Newark, Delaware, and Krystal Austin of Willingboro, NJ; a special great niece and nephew, Shelby and Travis Anderson of Newark, DE and Krystal Austin of Willingboro, NJ; mother-in-law Reverend Martha Council of Stantonsburg, NC; brothers-in-law, Charles Council of Stantonsburg, NC and Edward and Rodger Council of Richmond and Sutherland, VA; sisters--in-Iaw, Reverend Patricia Williams and Minister Naomi Oats, both of Goldsboro, NC, Reverend Sandra Smith of Stantonsburg, NC and Evangelist Wilma (Dennis) Cox of Wendell, NC. and a great host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.



Clarence was preceded in death by his mother Mary R Austin; his brother James “Jim”Austin; father-in-law Reverend Charles Council; sisters-in-law Thelma Czeker and Melissa Council and his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.



A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Salem United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Salem United Methodist Church.
