Claude L. Cartwright, 88, formerly of 7 Boyle Place, currently a resident of The Woodlands, died at his residence on Saturday, May 03, 2008. He was born in Platte S. Dakota, the son of Charles S. and Nellie C. Phillips Cartwright. On September 20, 1941, he married Irene Farrand in Oxford, WI. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1974. Claude and his wife moved to Fond du Lac in 1946. Mr. Cartwright was a founding member of Covenant United Methodist Church, holding several church offices that included Lay Member to the Annual Council, Staff Parish Committee, and Chairman of the Building Committee. Claude was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army Signal Corps. He was a Life Member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75, a Past Commander of the Firing Squad for six years, and a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11. He was formerly employed by Kossel's Home Appliance Store as a appliance and electronics technician. He later owned and operated Claude's Home Appliance and was then employed by Tru Value Hardware. He was a former member of the FDL City Parking & Traffic Committee. He taught appliance repair and refrigeration at Moraine Park Technical College for 16 years.Surviving is a daughter, Claudia (Pete) Eiteuner of Mt. Carroll, IL, a son, Calvin (Julie) Cartwright of Fond du Lac, two grandsons, Mark (Mary) Eiteuner of Canberra, Australia, and Alex Cartwright of Fond du Lac, a granddaughter, Laura Eiteuner of Fond du Lac, a great-granddaughter, Joanna Schommer, a great-grandson, Peter Schommer, and a brother, Ted (Margaret) Cartwright of Green Bay.
Visitation for Mr. Claude L. Cartwright will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 10 am to 1 pm at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 South Marr Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 1 pm at the church. The Rev. Michael Morning will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to Agnesian Hospice Hope, c/o of St. Agnes Hospital, 430 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, WUI 54935 Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
