Clifford Joseph Pickart

Clifford Joseph Pickart, 90, of 292 N. Macy Street, died Tuesday, December 04, 2007. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Cliff was born April 14, 1917, in Mt. Calvary, to Anthony and Isabel Sabel Pickart. He attended Holy Cross School in Mt. Calvary. On April 19, 1941, he married Elsie Berlowski in Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. Cliff was employed as a Patrol Superintendent for the Fond du Lac County Highway Department for 43 years, retiring in 1979. After retiring from the Highway Department, he worked for the Fond du Lac County Airport for 22 years. His combined 65 years of service made him the most tenured employee of Fond du Lac County. Cliff was a founding member and served as President of the Board of the FDL County Credit Union. Cliff was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army from December, 1942 to December of 1945. He was a proud member of the 14th Armored Division and enjoyed attending the annual reunions, especially the last few years accompanied by his sons. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie #270 and Aber-Engel American Legion Post #154 of Mt. Calvary.Cliff is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elsie, along with 8 children: Barbara (Phil) Gustafson, Richard (Joyce) Pickart, Linda Pickart, Carol (Arnie "Butch") Albertz, Loretta (Ron) White, Steven (Ann) Pickart, Julie (George) Riese, and David (Kay) Pickart, all of Fond du Lac. He was Grandpa to Jodi (Darwin) Will, Traci (Jeff) Borgen, Shannon (Anthony) Truss, Shelley (Mike) Bach, Lisa (John) Jensen, Josh (Stephanie) Hamm, Sarah (Brooks) Halstead, Ronda (Cameron) Flores, Robin (Rick) Rodriguez, Renee and Russell White, Cliff and Kelsey Pickart, Andrew, Matt and Emily Riese, and Nelson, Kayla, and Colin Pickart. He was Great-Grandpa to Erin, Staci and Ryan Bach, Nick and Nathan Will, Josie Jensen, Bryton and Kaleigh Rodriguez, and Ignatius and Finley Truss. He is further survived by a brother, Jerry (Katie) Pickart of Mount Calvary, a sister-in-law, Beatrice Pickart of Fond du Lac, and a brother-in-law, Don Blaylock, of Fond du Lac. Preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter, Marie Pickart, his step-mother, Viola Blanck, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn (Norbert) Schneider, Florence (Emil) Warner, and Joan Blaylock, and two brothers, LaVerne "Pinky" Pickart and Joseph Pickart.



Visitation for Mr. Clifford Joseph Pickart will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007, from 3 to 7:30 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Family prayers will be on Friday, December 7, at 8:45 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 am at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac. The Rev. James Jaeger will officiate and cremation will follow the services. Inurnment of cremated remains will be in St. Charles Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established in Mr. Pickart's name.
