Dale George SchobDale George Schob, age 82, of 289 S. Seymour St., Fond du Lac, passed away at home on Oct. 24, 2006, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness of Multiple System Atrophy. He was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Fond du Lac, the son of Charles and Fannie Hamilton Schob. On April 10, 1948, he married Joanne R. Hundsrucker at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Dale was a Veteran of World War II having served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1943 until Oct. 1945. He fought in the South Pacific battles of Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa and the Mariana Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for injuries sustained during those battles. Upon returning home from his military service, he received his diploma from L. P. Goodrich High School. In 1952, he joined the Fond du Lac Police Dept. and retired in 1981 after 29 years of public service. He was a charter member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church {Holy Family), the Knights of Columbus Council 664 and Fondy Vintage Auto Club. Dale was a Lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1904, Purple Heart Military Order Charter 162, American Legion Trier Puddy Post 75, Welling Washbush Disabled Veterans Unit 11, Second Marine Division and Professional Police Association.Dale is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne; his 7 children: Theresa Kulibert, Chuck (Ann) Schob, Mary (Rodney) Baumann, Mark (Roberta) Schob, Marcia (Mark) Dreifuerst, Lori (Todd) Chadwick and Julie (John J.) Arthur; 11 grandchildren, Erich Kulibert, Jason (Lynn) Baumann, Ryan (Stacey) Baumann, Rebecca Schob, Steven Schob, Andrew Chadwick, Mitchell Chadwick, Austin Dreifuerst, Stephen Dreifuuerst, Tyler Arthur and Hannah Arthur; one great-grandson Joshua Baumann. He is further survived by one brother Delwin (Joan) Schob of Thief River Falls, Minn; sisters-in-law Marie Seater of Racine and Barbara Hundsrucker of Sturtevant; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Pamela; granddaughter Marissa Dreifuerst; two sisters, Lorraine Bartelt and Dorothy Oldenburg; two brothers, Ellsworth and Elwood Schob; one sister-in-law and five brothers-in-law. Dale was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed attending the sporting events, musicals and school programs that his children and grandchildren participated in. He enjoyed all sports, especially watching the Packers and Brewers, hunting, motorcycling and travel before his health failed, having visited Australia, London, Hawaii, Texas, Florida and Las Vegas numerous times. He and his wife Joanne especially looked forward to the 'Sweet Heart Tours' every year around Valentine's Day. Deer hunting with his sons, son-in-law and grandchildren was a very special time and provided great enjoyment for him. He loved to dance and his favorite was the polka. Dale enjoyed his many trips to the casinos, especially when his family accompanied him and he received much pleasure from his weekly visits from his great-grandson Joshua.Dad lived by simple values - God, family, country, honesty and integrity. He had an amazing smile that was almost contagious. He is loved and will be deeply missed byall who knew him! Visitation: Friday, October 27, 2006 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.Services: Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. Friends may call on Saturday at the Church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
