Dan T. Hayes

Dan T. Hayes, age 81, of Fond du Lac, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. He was born on October 21, 1942, in Goodman, WI, the son of Daniel F. Hayes and Loretta E. (McKay) Hayes. Dan graduated from Antigo High School in 1961, then attended UW Oshkosh. Dan went on to work for Chicago NorthWestern which later became Union Pacific Railroad for 42 years. On January 24, 1964, Dan married Mary Catherine Burnett in Waukegan, IL. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2021. He was a member of Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie #270 for 52 years. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Dan was a friend to all and always had a story to tell. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Survivors include three children, Steven Hayes, Karen (Gregory) Scheib, and Kelly (Matthew) Stafford; four grandchildren, Austin (Chloe) Scheib, Trever Scheib, Tyler Stafford, Ethan Stafford; one great-grandchild on the way; his siblings, Jane Brzezinski and Brian (Nancy Wall) Hayes; sisters-in-law, Susan (Ronald) Lueck and Bev Burnett; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lyle Burnett, Ruth (Bob) Carlovsky, Judith (Terry) Hintz, LeRoy Brzezinski.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12 noon at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Tuesday at the funeral home at 12 noon. Entombment will follow the service at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
