Daniel J. Kraus

Daniel J. Kraus, 63, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, March 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 22, 1952 in Fond du Lac, the son of Wilbert and Lillian Koenigs Kraus. He was a 1970 graduate of Goodrich High School. Daniel was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1972 – 1974. On June 13, 1987, Daniel married the love of his life, Karen Zwicky, at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He was a custodian for the Rosendale/Brandon School District. He was a member of the Mt. Calvary American Legion Post 454. Daniel was an artist, craftsman, nature enthusiast who loved gardening and feeding the birds, enjoyed music and loved animals. Daniel was a positive, generous, helpful, caring and gentle soul. He never said a bad word about anyone he encountered. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Daniel always put everyone else’s needs before his own.



He is survived by his wife, Karen Kraus; his father, Wilbert Kraus of Fond du Lac; eight siblings, Bob Kraus of Fond du Lac, Paul Kraus of Safford, AZ, Diane (James) Stepp of Fond du Lac, Ken (Cindy) Kraus of Fond du Lac, Sharon Pelot of Fond du Lac, LuAnn (Dan) Bauer of Fond du Lac, Renee (Jim) Michels of North Fond du Lac, Steve (Traci) Kraus of North Fond du Lac; two brothers-in-law, Jeff (Deb) Zwicky of Fond du Lac and Robert (Jenny) Zwicky of St. Peter; one sister-in-law, Kim (Jeff) Ayars of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by his godson, Aaron (Stacey) Kraus of Appleton; uncles and aunts, Mary Jane (Ben) Kraus of Fond du Lac, Betty Koenigs of Fond du Lac, Genevieve Kraus of Mt. Calvary, and Louis Piazzon of Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Kraus; three brothers, Richard, Michael, and William; sister-in-law, Patty Kraus; his father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Jean Zwicky; and his two dogs, Max and Rudy.



The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Deacon Dale Paczkowski officiating. Private family entombment will take place in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
