Daniel R. Walgenbach, 83, of Fond du Lac, walked into the open arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Dan was born to Raymond and Lorraine Klein Walgenbach on October 20, 1935. He married Linda Guse on June 25, 1966. Dan fulfilled his dream of buying a farm which he owned and operated for 32 years. They sold their farm and built their dream house on the ledge in 2000. Dan was an exceptional dad who welcomed their adopted children, Dean and DaLinda and nine foster children into their home. The door was always open for 21 other relatives and friends who needed a temporary home.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, DaLinda (Greg) Koentopp and their son, Isaac; Dean’s children, Craig (special friend, Maureen), Jenna, and Hunter; his siblings, Geraldine (Jim) Altmann, Janet (John) Weber, James Walgenbach, Patricia (Gary) Szmanda, Karen (Jake) Seehafer, and Raymond (Ann) Walgenbach; in laws, Beverly Hauschildt, Sandra Ham, Earl (Ruth Ann) Guse, and Barbara Guse; and over 140 nieces, nephews, and spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean; and other relatives.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street, Fond du Lac. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday at church. Entombment will follow in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
